I joined the University of Edinburgh in 2003, undertaking research and lecturing on Investments and Securities Markets for the MBA programme. I am Programme Director for the MSc in Finance and Investment, one of the most popular postgraduate programmes at Edinburgh University. Prior to joining the University, I was Head of Global Equities for Aberdeen Asset Management from 2000 to 2002. Prior to this, I worked for Murray Johnstone International from 1989 to 2000, initially as an analyst and latterly as Head of Asset Allocation.

I am a pension fund trustee and serve on the investment committee for two charities. I have undertaken consultancy work for Aberdeen Asset Management and executive training for Scottish Widows Investment Partnership. My research is focused on securities lending, short selling, predatory trading and risk assessment techniques.
