Introduction to Institute Requirements
From 2006 all the major UK professional accounting bodies will require members to confirm annually that they have fulfilled their CPD requirements. This is not simply a case of attending a set number of courses or doing a limited number of hours reading.
From 1 January 2006 CIMA members will need to undertake the following process:
- Define and asses their development needs
- Design a programme of activities and act on it
- Reflect on their development activity and evaluate it

ICAEW Members are being asked to undertake the following process: • Identify their individual learning and development needs relevant to their professional and personal development:
- Assess how to meet these needs
- Undertake the relevant development activity
- Record details of the activities undertaken
- Submit an annual return to their professional body

ACCA members will comply with their CPD Realise scheme by either working for an ACCA Plus Approved CPD employer or by accumulating CPD units.
