This series of videos and exercises is a clear and simple introduction to business finance. It seeks to demystify and help you understand how it finance works. The target audiences are managers, budget holders, new business owners and any person wanting to learn how finance works.

Modules for the Certificate in Business Finance

Module 1: Certificate in Business Finance

This module introduces all the basic language of Finance to help learners feel comfortable talking about finance. The course assumes that learners have no prior knowledge.  It uses examples based on real Business documents.

Objectives

  • To feel confident and comfortable when using Budget Reports
  • To help communicate more easily with Accountants

Format

This module consists of 4 sections each with a video, exercises and a quiz to test learning. The videos cover:

  • Financial Information Overview – how Finance works, the key statements needed and why they’re important
  • Principles of Accruals Accounting – how all finance and accounting works in time periods and why this is important
  • The Balance Sheet – introduction, format, content and why it’s important to understand it
  • Profit and Loss Report and the Budget Report – introduction, format, content and why it’s important to understand it

The module is interactive, tests learning and has the option to ask questions to the Tutor. Taking approximately 90 minutes to complete contributing towards the final score and the certificate in Business Finance.

  • To focus on Management Accounts and how they are used to improve decision making
  • To clarify cash flow and liquidity

This module consists of 4 sections each with a video, exercises and a quiz to test learning. The videos cover:

  • Profit & Loss: Management Accounts
  • Cash Flow, Liquidity & Working Capital – introduction, format, content and why cash flow is critical to the organisation
  • Other Financial Terminology – the language of Finance made simple
  • Understanding financial information

The module is interactive, tests learning and has the option to ask questions to the Tutor. Taking approximately 90 minutes to complete contributing towards the final score and the certificate in Business Finance.
